I paid $260 for my grinder. I paid about $50 for my espresso machine, once the price of the modifications is added in. I'm making mostly milk drinks at the moment (a few more mods before the straight shots are luxurious, and good milk hides many sins).
There are espresso grinders to be had in the $200-$260 range, and craigslist bargains to be had in the $100 range.
But of course, it's your cup, I can't make you do it my way - all I can say is what I did to get mine, and how happy I am to be confident that my grinder (or lack thereof) isn't holding me back.

This past summer we had a heat wave up here and had a week where we started work at 5am . To hot to sleep anyway so it was an interesting couple weeks. I stopped at a local espresso stand that week and remembered how bad that stuff was. I don't think I took more than three sips off the cup. If you don't get a grinder that's what you'll be looking at. Last winter using my *$ Barista and my Baratza Virtuoso I at least could make some pretty good milk drinks- way better than that. Just food for thought. Ron

I hopefully will have a Pure soon.... long story.
However I do have a capresso infinity and about a 7 or 8 year old barely used zass hand grinder. Am I better off just starting off with the zass or can the infinity due with this machine?
