Subject: Espresso making experience and whats wrong?

My experience so far with the Mr Coffee ECMP40, and MDF grinder at setting 4 has been good. As the espresso machine is a cheapo, I have to wait till i get a shot, wait till the drip stops so that I can remove the porta filter then do the frothing stuff. The problem with this is, I am not getting the flow of the crema and coffee same as i see in the coffee shops. I mean I dont get two shots in 20 secs. It takes atleast a min for me to get that. Its like the machine is applying water pressure and coffee drips drop by drop in my cup. Is this something to do with the machine or is it me? If its me whats going wrong here? Appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Sreeram

It sounds like you need to grind a bit coarser.  Back off the grind one click on your MDF and see how that works.  Try shooting for two ounces in 30 seconds.

Unfortunately, the clicks on the MDF are kind of far apart, so it can be hard to dial in the grind just right.  But sometimes you can cheat and hold it in between clicks if necssary.

Good luck.
