Hi all, I recently purchased a Rancilio S27 and wonder if anyone knows how to adjust the boiler and/or brew pressure on this unit. There's not a lot of info out there on this unit. After using it for a week, I find the shot quality has been better than my Andreja. Due to that, I adjusted the boiler pressure on my Andreja from 1.3 to 1.1 and noticed quite a difference....good difference.
It think the rotary pump of the S27 may have an edge over the vibe pump of the Andreja
Darren you should have the Procon reciprocating pump. The procon volumetric pumps have a bypass on them so you can adjust your pour and pressure. If you have any other questions about it, or need a spec sheet email me, I'll be happy to help however I can
You can usually adjust the boiler pressure by either the screw on the pressure stat or the screw on the pump, depending on what you want to accomplish. In my experience it is better to first work with your grind and tamp, these machines are calibrated very well out of the box!
Isn't it entertaining when someone new comes to CoffeeGeek and thinks they know better than EVERYONE else? It's even more fun when they work to skirt the rules about commercial posting in the forums by putting thier business name in a signature line and then make most every post related to thier business in some way.
In this case, at least you seem to know quite a bit about making espresso....but you also jump to some strange conclusions (probably from not reading threads before deciding to jump in with mixed good and bad information). In my experience I must say that I have almost never seen any machine ideally calibrated "out of the box". And since everyone's situation and preferences are different it may be suitable for any true afficianado to tweak thier machines for personal preferences.
Also, you would think an experienced technician would understand that you can not adjust boiler pressure by adjusting the pump. The pump adjusts maximum brewing pressure..but the pressurestat (or thermostat or PID) controls boiler pressure/temperature.
