We've just got a new 3 group NS Aurellia VIP plus machine in at work, and it takes an unusual amount of time to heat up in the mornings. Usually just shy of an hour in total. I have programmed the machine so it turns itself on at a given time each day, and then obviously programmed it to switch itself off each night. Im not sure if the "timed on-off programming" has anything to do with the heat up time in the morning...but it sure as hell is frustrating considering the boiler is only approx 20 litres and it should take no where near an hour to heat up.
Any thoughts or personal experiences with the same machine or the same problem?

That amount of warm-up doesn't sound that unusual to me. Even thought the boiler may come to full pressure fairly fast you still have all that mass in the group heads and throughout the heat exchanger that takes time to heat. My machine is nowhere near the size of yours, but it still requires close to an hour to stabilize. You might want to consider leaving your machine on 24/7. I don't think the energy requirements would be much greater than switching your machine on and off every day.

For a 3 group machine? An hour to warm up sounds perfectly fine - my 1-group expobar takes on the order of 40 mins to come up to full, stable temperature. With 3 groups, you probably have 20 - 30 lbs of brass in the groups to heat up, through indirect heat/thermosyphon, so an hour is fine. And I disagree with krus, you should keep it on a timer as long as it has one. No sense leaving something that consumes ~3000 watts of energy on when you don't need it, that's exactly what our world doesn't need. But if it takes an hour to warm up, set it to turn on an hour before you need it....
