My Mac has developed a small but steady steam leak from the plastic fitting that houses the level probe. The leak appears to be from the sleeve of the fitting and not from the threaded portion. I teflon taped the nut that holds the probe in place, and was somewhat successful getting tape around the plastic sleeve, but the leak appears to be jetting out around the probe itself. New probes are $40ish, so if anyone has a cheaper solution I'd love to know! Can I put RTV or something around the probe itself?

Thanks for the input. The problem is that the probe has a 90 degree bend, and replacing the insulator looks to be tough, or impossible, without damaging the probe. Are there any types of compression fittings you know of that withstand the temps/pressures of the boiler? I was thinking some type of sealant around the threads of the insulator might do the trick.

I'm not really sure what the exact problem is in your case but i had some steam leaking problems with my Vibiemme aswell. Maybe my solution can help you out.
