Subject: Quick Mill 3000 please help

Hi!
I'm new here, just received Quick Mill 3000 expresso machine from creativecookware.com
I have a lot of problems, machine is making crazy noise when the steam button is on...
like chocking pump noise, meter shows only 2 Bar of pressure. Coffee is weak, doesn't distribute evenly from 2 nozzles.
This is new machine, I feel like I wasted 800.00

Owner of creativecookware - Joe is refusing my request for  RMA# to return or exchange this machine.
Anybody else had a problem with returning product to creativecookware.com?
Website promises 60 days satisfaction, I just opened the box and next day I'm refused return/exchange request.
Any advice?
Much appreciate!
Vincent

I checked and that is a thermoblock machine.

These do not sound like problems with the machine to me, maybe that's why they don't want to accept the return.

On thermoblock machines, the pump chocks to push the steam.  If you get steam from the wand then the machine is working OK
If you use old or stale coffee, if the grind is poor (or worse to use preground) and if tamping isn't done well you won't have enough resistance to buid up brewing pressure. (This is not the fault of the mchine, it has to do with the coffee quality and age as well as the grind and dose/distribution/tamp technique). It's also why your coffee is weak.

You see, brewing pressure is built up against resistance of the coffee puck.
If you put a blind filter basket in (with no holes so water can't flow) and start her up then you'll see the machine's max pressure.

As far as flow not even from the spouts, that's also normal and can be affected by many things. I always pull double shots into single cups so it never bothers me.
You could check the level of the machine, or look inside the portafilter to see if the flow path under the filter basket has more resistance to one side.

If you want to improve the espresso from the Quickmill get a good grinder and fresh beans....what are you using now?

As far as the customer service goes, I would think that a great vendor would help you get through the issues so you'll be happy with the machine but in the end if you are not satisfied then a great vendor would take the return but that also may depend on thier return policies.  I checked the return policy, and in this case they can refuse your return because the machine was used....if it has a defect then the warranty is covered by the Manufacturer warranty at the end but yours doesn't sound defective.

Here's what the website says:

Returns & Exchanges Policy:
100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. We will gladly accept any returns or If for any other reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for a refund of the purchase price, delivery charges are not refundable. Items must be in new and unused condition, with it's original packaging. It can be returned within 60 days of purchase date with a Return Merchandise authorization number ( RMA# ).

We are unable to accept unauthorized returns. In order to return any item you must email us at request@creativecookware.com to obtain a Return  Merchandise authorization number ( RMA# ) and instructions on where to send the package back to us. You will need to supply us with your name and date of purchase.

Manufacturer warranty:
Problems due to a manufacturing defects are covered under a manufacturer warranty. The item will have to be sent back to us, to be verified by a qualified manufacturer technician. The manufacturer will determine the cause of the problem and decide to repaired or replaced the item.

Regarding return policy of creativecookware.com.
Interesting:
 Returns & Exchanges Policy says:
Shop with Confidence!
60 days return policy
100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. We will gladly accept any returns or If for any other reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for a refund of the purchase price, delivery charges are not refundable. Items must be in new and unused condition, with it's original packaging. It can be returned within 60 days of purchase date with a Return Merchandise authorization number ( RMA# ).
and:
remember : YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO TURN THE PRODUCT ON AND TRY IT!
How the customer can find the satisfaction?
I would never shop at creativecookware.com again.
Why Joe is refusing to provide RMA number if machine is extremely noisy?
I'm using Intelligentsia coffee for espresso girnder by coffee shop.
He could charge restocking fee, but total refuse of exchange after sale doesn't look right to me.
Regards!

Hi Vincent,
The grind needs to be adjusted finer to create more resistance to flow.
The preparation of the puck is critical as well, and some people spend quite a bit of time learning to build the shot consistently.

Also, once the coffee is ground, it starts to dry and get stale right away.
Think about how much surface area gets exposed by grinding!

Also - what was the roast date of the Intelligentsia coffee?
Intelligentsia doas great work, but the beans still get old after a couple of weeks...

As far as the vendor's policy....I certainly understand why you're not happy about it  ;-)
I would feel the same way!

Good luck,
Jon
