I am finding it very hard to properly steam milk on my new GS/3.   The steam seems wet and the resulting expanded milk is thin and not dense microfoam.

With my previous machine (Isomac Zaffiro) I was able to make excellent, dense, microfoam.

I realize a new machine will require new methods, but I have went through a lot of milk trying to develop a technique that produces a useable result.

If anyone is having a good experience steaming milk with this machine and is willing to share their technique ... I would like to hear it.

What temperature seems best for the steam boiler?

Thanks in advance.

My dealer asked Franke about it and they said that it was not a supported solution to the vibration problem.   Franke implied that use of the pump support could lead to other unspecified problems.  It seems odd to me that some dealers are installing the pump support and folks report great improvement while my dealer is told that Franke will not supply this part.

I think I will try to talk to Franke directly.

Has anyone in the USA had the pump support device installed?

Used to have the same problem.  This was the solution!

Espressopart's custom 4-hole steam tip  F_134_LM

Made a huge difference.

I don't own a GS3, but read this entire thread with interest....I find it staggering that a machine costing so much, can have the problems it does?

My exact feelings about my Lamborghini!!!  ;)   (I wish!)

Mines been problem free so far.  The steam tip it came with was not well suited to my technique and milk quantities, but it might work well for others.  I've had problems with other machines (i.e. my Isomac died and had to be returned after a week).   While the GS/3 is not perfect, most of the issues I've heard about are minor.  But I do agree with the spirit of your post -- at the $$, all of the little issues should have been resolved.  I feel for those who have to deal with the aggravation of reservoir issues and noise.  Let's hope Franke resolves them effectively!

At the place I work, Toshiba, we work with multi million dollar tools and it's normal for the tools to be buggy, especially when there are new features being introduced and things are cutting edge. This is just normal reality of life. Usually, it takes some time to resolve all the issues. So the main concern is that the companies support is as excellent as we want the product to be. If the support fails, then the produce becomes a failure. But with excellent support we can be successfull.

The other poster also mentioned that they are not critical problems, but can be worked through and resolved. Honestly, I would much rather have the GS3, enjoy using it, and get the issues resolved with the excellent support, rather than have no GS3.

yes, I have seen the support for the product seems very good (if not superb), I think it's just a shame they they didn't invest less in the front end rather than (probably) destroy all their profits by fixing some problems they maybe should never have had.

Ah...they should have sent me one to review...i'd have soon broke it...i'm not popular with some manufacturers ;-)

Rob and Steve are going to laugh after all the Synesso vs. GS/3 discussions but... I just mailed off a check for a GS/3.  I told you I hadn't decided!

In the end, I got a really great deal on it, saving me pretty substantially from what I would have paid for the Synesso, and while I see there are still a few issues out there (hopefully mine will be low-vibration...) it seems like they've made and are still making good progress with these things.  I tremble with anticipation for her arrival!

BTW, did everyone else get the same steam wand assembly replacements that lud got, or do later buyers have the latest assembly he posted already?

Oh yeah, and did anyone ever scan the manuals?  I'd love to read them through before she arrives...
