I was wondering if the Delonghi® Pump-drive Espresso/Cappuccino maker here was a good machine.
I'm a complete newb when it comes to espresso machines, but I had my first espresso two days ago and it was the best cup of coffee I had in awhile, so now I am determined to buy a decent machine and make my own.
Could you also make some suggestions on some good machines, my budget is up to $400 CAD.

I need help too. I recently (today as a matter of fact) bought a Silvia. I had heard they were great machines. But my wife tends to think that we will out grow it and wants to go with the Livia or the Millenium. Could this be true? We do have friends over and it would be nice to be able to make 10-15 shots with out taking all night. But is the cost worth it? I appreciate any good advice on this matter.

The Silvia is a great machine but don't expect it to pull shot after shot and steam at the same time The Isomac Tea or Millenium can do this. I have a Tea and had a few friends (20+) over one evening to shoot pool and introduce them to good espresso. Miss Tea's coming out party don't ya know?
I have never used the Livia, but believe it can do similar as the Tea/Millenium. Perhaps a Livia owner can jump in here.
Bottom line, I pulled in the neighborhood of 160 shots over a 4 hour period. Many were milk drinks. Plenty of back-to-back pulling. The Tea was waiting on me.
Is it worth the price? To be able to entertain like that, for me, it certainly is! I keep getting asked when the next espresso party is. It will be soon and a holiday atmosphere for sure.
Look at your uses of the machine, factor in a quality grinder, get into home roasting (not expensive when compared to grinders and espresso machines), then make the decision. You can always return the Silvia for more of a work horse if you want to - especially before using it.
