The Gaggia Baby has a good reputation but I understand that the Rancillio Sylvia is a better foamer among the single boiler machines. If you are serious about microfoam and milk drinks is your goal, an HX machine is really a better choice than any of the single boilers. My Expobar steams like a locomotive! There are really no HX machines to recommend under $500 but a number of good ones under $1000. (Now don't forget a good grinder to match)
