What are you grinding with? As burrs wear down, they can produce more fines, which pass through the portafilter.
Also, the factory Gaggia baskets seem to allow more stuff through than some of the aftermarket baskets. But if this problem just started happening, that's probably not it.
the others seem to suggest some great things. I would just ad that perhaps the basket needs to be replaced. These things get old and worn down and as they do, they usually allow more stuff to pass through. If you take the basket out and set it on the counter does it appear round on the bottom, or does it still appear flat? If its round, I'd suggest a new one.
