Hi mates,
I'm new owner of Venus and have some question concerning extraction and manometer readings. When I start the machine the manometer reads 0 bar. Then after few minutes when I just drop the heated water as a waste the manomenter goes up to ~12 bar. And now, when should I extract the coffee, when there is 0 or 12 bar? When there is 0 the pressure constntly goes up during the extraction, and when there is 12 bar I'm afraid that the pressure hits the coffee too strong. What is better?

The Venus manometer is a brew pressure manometer. So it's just fine showing 0bar when the pump doesn't work. It's also fine that when pulling a shot, the manometer goes up from 0 to 12bar. Pressure must be built against the coffee puck.
You can adjust the brew pressure over the expansion valve to 10bar, but you have to open the machine for doing that. But it's a little tricky:
The silicone tube with the number 40 goes onto the exp-valve. That must be screwed out a little. I don't know if it can be adjusted easily or if you hav to put a washer between cap and valve body. Maybe someone here has already done it.
be wary, the relief valve on the older models would fall out around 10 bars. you might need a new spring (or you can adjust the current spring to be a bit shorter )
actually, the gauge reads both boiler AND pump pressure-- if you look on the schematics you'll see why . its also not a quality guage, which is why it can look erratic.
