Hello!

I am anxiously awaiting a new Expobar Office Lever machine. I have read what I can find on this site as well as others regarding the cooling backflush for the E61 grouphead on this machine. Can anyone share some insights on the backflushing procedure that will be of use for me? Also, any owners/users of this machine willing to share information would be ,most appreciated.

I have finally been able to upgrade into this level of  of machines and am really looking forward to learning about this machine and how to use it to deal with my expresso habit.

Thanks in advance

Hello Jonathan,
I have the same machine and I've really enjoyed it.  Feel free to email me with any questions.  Just a quick heads-up.  After the machine has been on for at least 30 minutes I give a 6-8 oz cooling flush.  You then have about 20-30 seconds to tamp and lock-in the portafilter.  About once a week it's a good idea to turn the machine off (once it's pre-heated of course) and drain the hot water boiler.  This will remove the mineral consentrated water that builds up in that boiler.  Then turn the machine back on and let it fill the  boiler up automatically.
On to backflushing...  It's very simple.  Get some Cafiza and  measure 1/2 teaspoon into a blank basket.  Do a very quick cooling flush and lock in the portafilter.  From there, just follow the instructions on the bottle of Cafiza.  I could type them, but you'll find it easier to just read the container.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know.  I check the forums often, even though I don't post much.
Have a good weekend!

Hey Jonathan,
I just thought I'd bump this thread to see how you liked the machine.  Is everything going well?

Best regards,

Though I died and went to espresso heaven!! What a difference a prosumer machine makes! The E61 group head is fabulous. Everything about the machine is gorgeous. It works like a charm. Of course I needed to dial in the grind but once attained with a bit of tweaking now and then, this machine is well worth the money for its dramatic increase in performance which translates of course into better shots, better taste, better consistency, and just a better espresso morning! Cleaning and backflushing are easy. I have been using beans that my family sends me from Aroma Coffee in Jerusalem Israel as well as beans from Snooze here in Denver. I just found a local coffee house on 17th Street that features Novo Coffee and Novo has rocked my world. I have been corresponding with Novo for a while as they are kind of just down the block from me ath the Denargo Market and I look forward to purchasing some of their fine beans soon.

So all in all, I am finally loving my espress mornings! Thanks to all for your comments and advice.

Best

Jonathan
