I do backflush, and it doesn't spray. Weird.

She's possessed. She senses my displeasure and the coming OPV mod, and is acting to thwart it. Exorcism!!!!

My commercial Rancilio PF certainly does not. Can you post another pic?

I had the same problem today with my portafilter and gauge. A very nice person welded the notch close and my problem was over. Use without a basket!

Hmm, I need to find a nice person, then. :-) Good idea. Thank you!

So your Bricc has that too? What in Gods name is it for, I wonder?

I tried a few times, but couldn't get a secure enough fit on the bottom of my filter handle.  I'm going to have to rent a guage from someone here nice enough to let me... ;-)  if it fits an ECM gh (I think any e-61 groups will work), e-mail me.  I'll pay shipping and send it back with something nice!

Thanks
Geoff

Very odd. Here's my collection of four (!) portafilters - and nary a notch to be seen. Top two came with my Vetrano, bottom two are Rancilio PFs.

The told me it was to prevent vacume keeping the puck wet or something. Can't remember exactly.

I thought a threw a lot of money away buying the gauge. Glad it worked out fine after the modification.
