I am in need of a service manual for this older machine (and possibly the electronic service key). I know at least one person out there has this machine-I recall seeing it in your user bio.
I've tried speaking to the US side of the company and have only been directed to speak with the Old World parent company. They don't understand me...(should have taken italian instead of french).
If anyone has a manual, I would be willing to pay for a simple xerox of it. Thank you!

Were you ever able to find an electronic service key for your M30? I recently aquired one not realizing there was a version of the M30's that required a key like to M51's. The machine I purchased did not come with the key. If you were able to get one, where did you get it? What does the key consist of? It almost looks like the key is simply a large watch battery. Does the key put out a certain voltage or resistance? Please let me know. Thanks.

Never found the key. Matter of fact you are the first person I've ever known to have a M30 other than myself. I eventually sold it off and got a Marzocco. I loved that M30 though, it was an awesome machine, funny thing though, about 2 days ago I just picked up an M29 for my coffeelab.
So once again I'm back to messing with a Cimbali!
Good luck on finding a key, I found that I never did end up needing it.

Hello-
I have a Cimbali M32 Bistro and it has a key reader. I searched a bit and it looks as though keys are hard to come by and pricey. I never did find one that could be purchased.
On my machine, you really do not need the key unless the programming is locked. Of course, mine was locked, so I could not even change the dosing controls.
I've been told that some Cimbali boards support jumping some pins for a bit to unlock programming (sorry no notes). My control board had no such pins so no luck for me.
After spinning my wheels a bit, I put in a call to my local area Cimbali rep... they're about 3.5 hours away drive time. They were nice enough to take my information and call me the next time they were doing service calls in my vicinity. They came to the house and unlocked the machine programming for a $25 service call.

I have 4 M30s, all of which were "locked" out by the engineering key when I got them. You need to open the electronics box and flip a switch or two. I'll post the work-around in a few hours after the morning rush...

Under the drip tray on the left is the electronics box. Open this and look for the set of 4 DIP switches towards the middle right. Set them like this: DIP 1 - ON DIP 2 - OFF <-- This is probably the only change you'll need to make DIP 3 - ON DIP 4 - ON This DIP setting puts the machine in engineer mode, which means it can be programmed from the front buttons without the special key. Let me know if this does not work.
I will send programming instructions after I find the notes I took when we did them.
I can't find my notes on the programming, so we have to go the hard way: When you are in Engineer mode, push the PROG button until you get to DOSE SETTING CHOOSE A SELECTION. From here, the shot buttons are numbered starting with (01) single shot short on the far left through to (12) double shot long on the right- on my triple head machines. For some reason, the hot water spout is numbered 17 for the full cup (middle button) and 18 for the half cup (left button)- backwards from how one would think. Numbers 13 through 16 must be for the four head version?
So from "CHOOSE A SELECTION', when you push the single shot short button on the far left group head, selection number 1, the display says SELECTION 01 WATER DOSE: ###. Use the plus and minus buttons to change the value, trial and error style, 'till you get a nice shot. Make sure to use like 5 pounds of coffee. I know I did. In order for the machine to run normally, you have to cycle all the way back to the clock, which makes for a lot of button pushing to get the right does. For reference, we use 180 for double shots and 290 for triples. Both long pull and short pull are programmed the same on our machines, because we don't offer shorts.
Hope that helps!
PS- what resort, Rich? I'm moving to Honolulu in May...
