Subject: La Marzocco GS/3 MP Firmware upgrade

Hi guys,

some days ago I bought a used La Marzocco GS/3 MP with the Firmware Version 1.01 built in 2009.
I read some articles on you forum how to upgrade die firmware of the GS/3 AV however I didn`t find any information about the GS/3MP. Does anybody know someting about the improvements in the firmware of the GS/3 MP? LM told me that the latest Firmware Version is 1.012P however they couldn`t tell me more about the improvements...
Unfortunately LM isn`t willing to send me the firmware files. Does anybody of you have the firmware file of a version higher than 1.01?

Sorry for my bad english....
Best wishes from Germany
Florian

Florian,
The reason LM does not send out firmware updates is because of the complexity to update.  It requires a special cable and some specific software.  The software is free but the use of it is not straight forward.  If you are experienced with Atmel processors and ISP then this may be accomplished but if not then I would not recommend it.  A mistake can render the microprocessor unusable.

Bill,
thanks for your comment and recommendations. I've just some experiences with other CPUs.
I read the firmware instruction form Mark Stubblefield (I think you know him) which seemed not that difficult...
It would be interesting to know what they changed since the firmware version 1.01. Do you know something about the change history? If they made just some display adaptations a upgrad wouldn't be interesting.
Thanks
Florian

I do not know the exact changes but think they are probably minor and you would not notice the difference.   I presume that Giicar just made some code changes for their internal process.  I dont think the changes were requested by the factory but were made by Gicar.
