Solenoid valve in my BDB (OLAB make) started to make occasionally buzzing noise during brewing. It was starting to buzz after preinfusion. Sometimes the noise stopped after a while and valve did open fully and pressure reached 9 bar. Or it was buzzing continuously and pressure was reaching only 6 bar. Cleaning did help to some extend but it was still happening although less frequently. First I sought that 240V coil (my machine came from Australia) is too weak for our local 230V when it fluctuates within 10% spec. Replacing it with 220V coil did not help. After careful examination of the seats, I saw some deformation/wear on the front ruby seal. Probably the spool was seating too low and coil was not able to pull it in. I've replaced the seal with gaskets cut from elastomer sheets with 6mm hollow punch. First one (on internal spring side) is 2.5mm thick EPDM and 2nd is from 1.2mm silicone. Machine works now without any problem for last 4 weeks with either 240V or 220V coils.
First seal installed. I had to use 2 seals as ID of the hole at the edge is smaller (5.3mm) and it was difficult to push a seal made from one piece. ID of the hole after the edge is 6mm and its depth approximately 3.5mm Use 111/food grade lubricant to ease installation.
