Hey everyone,

I'm the excited new owner of a Silvia!  I have a V3 steam wand and adjustable OPV on the way.  My PF has the notch in it so I can't use it with a pressure gauge to set the new OPV.  I don't have the budget right now to buy a new PF without a notch, is there anyone in the Washington D.C. are that has one I can borrow?

Thanks,

Scott

I'm not sure what you mean by it has a notch in it.
I am fairly sure that the spouts can be removed from a Rancillio PF, they should screw on, at least that is what I remember but I may be wrong there.

You can also check your pressure through the steam wand, it will see the same pressure as the group head will when the brew system is activated. A bit of hose a couple of hose clamps and a gauge connected to the steam wand should work. Just attach the gauge, open the valve on the steam wand and you are reading boiler pressure. Activate the brew system and you are reading the brew pressure. The same gauge can be attached to the bottom of the Pf after the spouts are removed.

Thanks for the steam wand suggestion, I'll get a reading that way!  The early Silvia PF's have a notch, presumably to pop the filter basket out easily.

Cal is right, it unscrews, I bought me one shot beak.

Standard 3/8" thread.

I went to DIY/building supply store and got: a 3/8" elbow-FF, a reducer 3/8" to size of gauge and 10-16 bar gauge for LIQUIDS. I got it for $15 about.
My Silvia V3 reads 9.5 bars.

BTW that PF looks odd, the V-1  were ribbed handle? I've seen Silvias for sale and the handle didn't seem to change...

What do you mean you can't use it? you put any filter in the PF and voila...
