Subject: Gaggia Platinum Vision troubleshoot

Hi Everyone,

First time poster...  I have a Gaggia Platinum Vision that has been having a few issues, turning itself off and on again after about 20 minutes - it seemed to be thermostat related perhaps.  One day it wouldn't start at all, no LCD screen, nothing.  Not sure whether it was left on or not casuing it to overheat, but could be a possibility I guess.

So, finally managed to work out how to get the casing off - no easy feat - and tested the main switch (all good) and both the thermostats located on top of the boiler. Current was passing through both, and assume that if one was failing enough to block the start-up process it would need to be preventing current passing through - am I correct in this assumption or could they still be the source of the problem?

There is talk with other machines of fuses being blown if they overheat, but I can't track down whether any such fuses exist for the Gaggia Platinum range (vogue, swing-up, vision etc).  I was wondering whether anyone knows whether there are fuses on the main power board or elsewhere in the machine that I could test before having to send to a technician.

The two white, fuse-like components on the power board (see attached image) look very enticing - hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Or any other possible suggestions regarding the problem :)

Many thanks in advance :)

Keir

Hi Keir

Exactly the same problem has happened to me this morning. I go to the machine, it is in standby mode but touchscreen unresponsive and clock stuck at few hours ago. Turn the machine off, turn back on and nothing. No LCD backlight, no mechancial sounds, anything. Unplugged and left for an hour, tried new fuse in plug all haven't worked.

I have read that on other models there are a series of reset switches if the boiler or pump misbehave but after downloading the service manual I can't seem to find them on the Platinum range.

Does anybody here know where the reset switches are or can suggest a course of action other than send to service?

MUCH apprepreciated!

Chris

Hi, I have an Odea Go and I think the power board may have went out (no lights at all when I turn on the machine.).I have opened up the machine and measured 110 volts going into the board after the switch and voltage going through the fuse on the board. I wish I had a schematic to push further. Did anyone here make any progress with a new power board? I have found where I can buy them for about $65 but don't want to order just yet unless it is the actual issue.
