I just got this from Seattle Coffee Gear and installed it.  Unfortunately, the operating manual on their site does not explain how to do anything but change the temp.  Anyone have the Pre-infusion manual they wouldn't mind linking PDF.  Its not on the Auber site.

I'm in contact with SCG but no response thus far.

Hey Pilot,

This video from SCG explains how to adjust temp.
I got the Silvia but no PID.  I temp surf.

I saw that.  It's decent but they do a quick overview.  Its an awesome device and after 2 years of the Silvia I have to say it has improved my shots 10 fold.  However, Auber is a schlep organization.  There documentation sucks.  SCG sent me their user guide since they have only received a bare bones manual from Auber.  Auber hasn't even updated their guide since introducing the pre-infusion.

They design a fairly nice PID (could use a bit of tweaking) but clearly they don't care if their customers know how to use it properly.

All Ulka vibe pumps used on the Rancilio Silvia have a pressure ramp characteristic that pre-infuse the coffee puck as it takes 5-6 seconds before the pump reaches full pressure.  I guess you could say a pre-infusion timer might not make much of a difference.

Definitely,  it just pre-wetting the puck.  Its not pre-infusion in the sense that one would think.  Really a gimmick of sorts.

Nevertheless, you would think they would have a decent manual for the thing considering the number they sell through various outlets.

Again, schlep organization but good PID.  Not great but good.

I could not tell if you got the answer. The Auber site shows this for the Auber 1512 and the Kits are derivatives of 1512.

Changing and setting the temperature are the same.  I also believe that I have seen an easier way to just change temperature on the kit, but can't find it.  I have corresponded, emailed, with Suyi at Auber a couple of times and found him responsive and helpful.

Thanks.  That's what I need.  SCG doesn't supply it with the PID, for some reason.

D4F,

On second thought.  I decided not to follow that manual since its not the official one they have locked on their site.  I don't understand why they publish everything else but lock the coffee manual and won't release it to their vendors.

Also, did you run the "Auto Tune" function on your machine?  Did it change much from the default settings?

I did not bother with auto tune.  I had read enough values that I set it.  That manual will set the functions.  Some are proprietary and locked on the kits.  You certainly will not hurt anything changing Set Value (SV) for temperature.  I did not get a kit so, if I had defaults I do not remember.

Ok, anyone who has this PID and can help I'd appreciate it.  I attempted to change the SV using code 0001 then changing the temp.  I must have pushed the wrong buttons because 1112 showed up then somehow -328.  I panicked and turned off the machine.  Turning it on again the default of 221 is gone and now is set somewhere 100 I think. Pushing SET again 1112 comes up.  I can change the first number from a 1, 0, or -.  I never saw the AH values.

Anyone understand what I did or what I'm talking about?
