Subject: Baby Gaggia Twin issue

Hello all,

Hoping for some help with a Baby Gaggia Twin that my father gave to me.  He lives far from the city, so just mailed it to me and said: "take it to a repair man, tell him it doesn't work but it used to."  Trouble is, the repair man wants $120 just to look at the thing, so I wanted to give it a shot on my own.

Plug it in, turns on nicely, all the buttons illuminate, heats up.  When I press the dose button (button 2 or 3 in the owner's manual) steam / water comes out the steam handle - strange but true - but nothing through the coffee.

I took it apart and as far as I can tell the tubes are connected correctly - is there something easy I could be missing here?  Where should I start?  Let me know if pictures or further explanation would be helpful.

Thank you and forgive me for being such a novice here - I think this will be a wonderful entry into the world of espresso if I can get the thing running.

Patrick

Patrick, welcome to CG.

Unfortunately the remainder of the post may not be so kind.

Here is a place to start on the Twin.

Many leak and get corrosion and then do not function correctly.  I would not pay to have it looked at as the fix will be more and you will not have a very dependable machine even once fixed, if fixed.  Sorry to tell you that after your excitement.  More likely you can look for a used simple machine, SBDU, as we know them Single Boiler Dual/Double Use.  No boards, chips, or flow devices.

Parts 63 and 64 and surrounding are prone to fail, and the board on the next.
