Posted Sun May 5, 2013, 3:49pm Subject: Help! Rancilio Sylvia experts: Leak back into OPV after adjust and losing prime.
i am hoping someone out there can help.
about a month ago i re-adjusted the opv to slightly reduce group pressure. that has improved my shots. but ever since i've had to prime the group for about 15 seconds before water will come out!
i keep the machine on and ready to go 24 hours/day. there is no apparent leak to the outside and i've noticed bubbling of steam back through the opv and overflow hose. also, i've noticed that the level of water in the reservoir rises when the machine is left idle. so, i suspect that the opv is now leaking slowly back from the boiler to the water reservoir. i don't want to overheat the element if the boiler is out of water.
i'm hoping someone may know if i have to replace the opv or can guide me through a repair.
