Subject: Cimbali Junior (S, Vibe Pourover) - Weird Problem of no water through grouphead

Hi everyone

A long time lurker this is my first post :)

I today took possession of a refurbed late 90s Cimbali Junior S, Pourover, manual fill w/ vibe pump.  It has a weird issue:

1) The machine heats up and gets to pressure (set at approx 1.05bar) fine.
2) I am usually able to pull one shot ok, if I do so as soon as it has got to pressure from cold (approx 10-15 mins from cold) [not ideal...]
3) If I try a second shot, or leave the machine for a further 5 mins, I am no longer able to extract any water through the grouphead.  The steam and hot water continue to work fine.  I can sometimes hear a loud click from I presume the solenoid, but no water comes through the grouphead or exit valve.  This continues - ie after the machine has been on for approx 20, it no longer works properly.
4) Even flushing the boiler fully and refilling does not result it the group coming alive again - it only does that if I switch off and wait a few hours for everything to cool down and go through 1-2 again.

I've uploaded a short video of the issue here: http://sdrv.ms/Z9oDaA (with the top lid off). Everything looks super clean inside and i've done a full descaling of the boiler today, any backflushing (to the extent I had a short window in 2 above to do it, before it packs up).

I've seen similar problems reported around no water coming through the group e.g. http://coffeegeek.com/forums/espresso/machines/150466 [a DT/1] but no clear how they were resolved.  And there it seems to be a case of 'it never works' whereas with mine it does seem to work for a contained period while the machine is heating up.

Obviously this is not a runner - i need more than 1 shot and reliability - these machines should be able to crank it out.  All I can think is it is somehow temp related and something is overheating and tripping a valve or electronic part?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I fear a professional service may be needed but if there is a simple fix please let me know!

Thanks

Marcus

The pump pump water from the head before the pressure raise up?
Do you have any tool to check the pump pressure at the head?
Check at what point of pressure the pump stop working! I am no tec but if the pump work before steam pressure go up it have some thing to do with the pump or a pressure valve!

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.

Turned out to be the 3-way group solenoid - switched to a new one and we're back in business :)
