Backstory: A barista servicing friend stayed at my place for a few months. For rent payment, he game me an Athenea.....in pieces.
Pictures of the machine's state can be found here.
He tore it apart in front of me and had me acid wash all of the copper parts. Then he moved out. I'll probably never (reliably) receive his help on this again.
I have no experience with these kinds of machines but have been trying to do my research. There is no manual for the Athenea itself, but an exploded view of parts of the machine can be found here and I have attached a pdf of the Expobar Office from WholeLatteLove. They tell me that it is almost identical.
Seeing the state of the machine, can anyone give me advice if this project even seems viable for an amateur? Where should I start from here? I don't really know what the first step should be.
So far I am going to remove rust from frame, prime, and paint. In the album are a few pictures of the beginning of buffing and sealing the outer copper/brass body. However, this is all aesthetic and these innards scare me. :/
