Please forgive my amazingly newbie-ish question:
Space and cost issues aside... and keeping in mind the inherent timing problem that most SBDU units seem to have (as in timing the milk to the espresso)... is it better to upgrade the Classic to the Silvia arm, or to invest in a top of the line stand alone Milk Frother, such as the Breville?

The classic comes with a panarello on it's steam wand, which is supposed to make it easier to froth milk. However, you cannot produce microfoam suitable for latte art with it. Therefore it's advisable to modify the machine using a Silvia wand. The steaming power of the Classic is sufficient for an occasional cappuccino or latte.

How about describing your use or what you want to accomplish. Brew to steam is fairly fast in Gaggia Classic with large heaters and a small boiler. Steam back to stable brew is a bit more time. How many drinks and how much milk?
I routinely steam milk in 4 - 6 oz range reasonable timely.
Is frother equal to microfoam is the other question?
Total steam power is seen here, several minutes of steam and enough to swirl a large volume.
