Posted Sat Jan 19, 2013, 5:52am Subject: Gaggia Baby Dosata - water spraying but just replaced gasket - help please
Hi all,
I would appreciate any ideas on this. I have a Gaggia Baby Dosata, which I bought second hand although in apparent very good condition.
Water was spraying around the portafilter when I made a shot, so I ordered a new group gasket. Sure enough, the old one was cracked and in a bad state.
I have just replaced the group gasket and soaked all the components in detergent. All now sparkling.
However, the problem remains!
When I brew a shot, whether the grind is fine or coarse (I have a decent commercial grinder from a coffee shop), water sprays from around the group head, and some also drips down to enter my shot glass around the portafilter and between the 2 spouts. It's just pure water - no coffee at all. The coffee seems to be coming out of the spouts at about the right rate, but the cup fills up quickly with the dripping water, diluting the drink (which is obviously undrinkable!)
Same thing happens when I backflush - water sprays. The worst spray is coming from the right hand side of the group head.
What could it be? The machine has hardly been used...
