Hi everyone,
I am considering buying a bottomless for my 2008 Silvia, and I am about to place an order on the La Marzocco online store for a bottomless and some baskets.
Would anyone know if that portafilter can be mounted on a Silvia?
I have read some older threads talking about filing the portafilter so it would fit nicely, but these were years ago and I don't know whether the design has changed.
I sent an e-mail to LM, but so far no reply- not sure they'll entertain this kind of questions...
Below a photo of the LM bottomless PF from the LM online store.

I was going to reply to this yesterday, but thought I would leave it to someone more knowledgeable, but my comment is, you should probably consult someone like WholeLatteLove, since they sell these particular brands, and they could tell you for sure what portafilters are compatible with what machines.
I have the same question regarding the Gaggia and Simonelli portafilters, since the tabs look like they are in the same positions, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thanks for your reply,
I have found a few links to the way to modify the LM portafilter to fit the Silvia... and I still placed my order... will keep you guys updated after I receive it...
looks like I should start buying sandpaper too...
As a matter of fact the ppl mod the PF in order to lock it @ 6 o clock on the group, meaning perpandicular to the machine I presume... my Rancilio stock PF does not lock at 6 but at 7 at the best, when the basket is full...
Am I supposed to be able to lock it at 6 on the original PF or am I missing something here?

If you're talking about the stock PF, one possibility would be the PF is too full. I've done that and still do once in a while and yes it does affect your pull. Usually when mine is too full, I get a 60+ second shot and it goes into the sink.

I would ask the same question, only that the Rancilio is substantially more expensive from the online stores in europe and reliable suppliers harder to find... I just got the reply from LaMarzocco Store that the portafilter fits the Silvia. Will make a quick review once I receive it.
