Thanks for the links. In my case the Android app (running on my Galaxy Nexus) will act similarly to the Rocket R58 PID controller - to make adjustments, and to monitor. I find that having to start the app to use the Silvia rather impractical. Instead of an IOIO board for Bluetooth (~$38), we plan to just use a BT transceiver (~$8).
