Thanks, I did suspect it was commercial but I also did find some interesting stuff there. I guess I should have mentioned it to someone but ...... I failed :(
OH well, the "kit" is about the same price as a PID kit but I am not sure that a PID was included or does the kit use the processor of the Android device to control the temp of the espresso machine? If the tablet or smartphone interface is just that, a control panel, then it may give a PID kit a run for it's money but if you need to have the tablet or phone connected the whole time you are using the espresso machine, I find MUCH less value in the whole thing.
I don't think it is much of a secret that I like volumetric dosing, I find it adds a lot to the useability of the machine so from that standpoint, if a PID was also included, they might have something with this thing. If the tablet or phone is required to OPERATE the espresso machine, not so much value there for me.

Hi, I'm the inventor/developer of the Diva PID. I trust I'm allowed to answer posts and clarify details without violating forum rules?
It's not a commercial product yet, and might never be, so I appreciate all your feedback.
calblacksmith - yes, you need an android device connected to operate the PID. The Android is the brains and PID. So the box we supply communicates between the Android/PID and the coffee machine.
The good: - you can easily update the app to change how the PID operates. - You could also easily develop your own app if you wanted to operate differently. - We can add new software controls, descales, backflushing, statistics (average pour time etc) - Also we can add new features, we were considering a pressure sensor to measure and graph extraction pressure during the pour.
The bad: - if your phone is operating the machine and you walk away... it will stop controlling it
You can always buy a 7" tablet for $70 from ebay and mount it on the front.
Let me know if you'd rather I didn't post responses.

Hi Jim it seem to me a little overkill for the silvia but it could be great for other more expensive machines i have two suggestions: about the auto filling boiler after steaming - you dont need to turn on the solenoid, the excess water can go through the OPV which is better since the water drain tank is too shallow and gets full quickly if you have PWM controller on the pid you can control the pump ramp up pressure instead of the pump on/off method for pre infusion that can realy be killer feature anyway good luck :-) its realy the rolls royce of the silvia mods...
