Hi - I have owned a Gaggia Coffee for about 6 years, bought it used. A few days ago, I made a latte, pulling the portafilter off sooner than usual expecting a little bigger "sneeze", but got a pressure release strong enough to blow the puck all over my counter. I chalked it up to premature portafilter removal and went on with my day. The next morning, when I went to pull a shot, the pump pushed only a trickle of water out then seemed to block. I turned the pump off, then on again. Same thing. I thought maybe some of the "puck explosion" from the previous morning had been blown into the water tank and been sucked up into the pump. When I checked the tank, there was a tiny amount of grounds, but none stuck to the walls of either intake tube.
Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong here? The coincidence of high pressure release with the pump not operating is a little too much to ignore.
I have not actually seen one of these machines, only pictures and reading. That said, I believe the problem is the group valve. Pictures worth thousands of words. See part 58

Much appreciated information. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but if nothing else, I'm sure it can use a good cleaning. In the meantime, I have picked up a used Rancilio Silvia v2 that looks to have issues of it's own :-)
