The meat of my thoughts are down there on post 4
Hey fellow CGs. So, i'm getting sick of having to turn the knob so many times to get the steam to open and close. It really makes it a pain to stop the steam exactly when i need it to stop.
I'm looking at parts from other NS machines for the levers and differences in valves etc.
Ideally, i'd like to be able to use the existing steam valve and fit a lever and fork from another machine to it. If that isnt possible, possibly swapping the entire valve body with one that fits Oscar.
At this point, i think i need to find out the exact thread size of the oscar valve body and find out what other bodies are using. Also look at possible parts from other machines. From parts diagrams, it looks like i'll need the lever, a fork, steam valve screw, and possibly other misc parts. I also know that likely the parts wont fit properly onto the plastic front cover of oscar and that will probably need to be modified to allow it to fit.

hmm looks like the attachment from the valve to the machine on both aurelia and oscar are the same(part# 07300110 steam tap spring holder). This seems like a positive thing as this probably means that a direct swap is likely possible.

as far as hacking into the front cover...im thinking it'll just need a couple clean cuts vertically so that the lever has room to move. this is just a guess tho. If it's as easy as i'm thinking, reattaching the knob should be easy and the cut should not be noticeable with the knob back on if you choose to go back.

order for parts placed through espressoparts. came out to 84.06 because i added a few extra parts so that i dont have to take apart my current valve to reuse the parts from it. specifically they were " Nuova Simonelli Appia/Aurelia/Mac/Premier/Program Steam Valve Rebuild Kit (SKIT3)"($17.50) which includes the two silicone gaskets(would have been $2.38) from the original list along with the spring, washer and piston that i would have had to use from my original valve. Also i ordered "Nuova Simonelli Steam Valve to Boiler Fitting (S_133)"($4.50) which is the coupling fitting from the valve to the machine. This also would have had to be removed from the old valve.
here's the full order along with the espressoparts part numbers:
