You might be able to silver solder that back on. As it is made of brass, brazing is out. That is pretty thin! I think NS should have thought that out a bit more for that machine. They normally do a pretty good job of thinking through a design, I think the guy that checks designs before going into production was away on vacation when this went through the design check department.

My tears are drying up, and there's a ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds.
The first shot I pull on this machine that will be in tribute to Joe Kittay at Good Coffee Company in Seattle, who has spare portafilters (one of which I will be in possession of by the weekend), and who found me the top boiler half and the panels that I needed to make the Ellimatic whole.
I think, at this point, that I could have bought a new Oscar (or a very lightly used one) for what I'll have sunk into this, but I know this machine inside and out. And I've got a pretty good idea of what skills I need to refine should I ever decide to restore another machine. All-in-all, I think it's a good deal.
