Everything seems to be working "ok", but I`m having some trouble figuring out how to set the PID values.
I found these settings someone used in another thread: P - 3.5 I - 60 D - 20
I also modified the Alarm High - Alarm Low temperatures, since I setup the machine to use the alarm output to control the steaming temperature.
The only weird issue I have now is that the settings seem to be wrong for the type of thermometer I'm using. I have an RTD installed which came from Auberins. In the settings, its configured as "K-thermocouple" by default. I changed that to "RTD100", but when I do, I get an error message on the display...: "EEEE". When I leave the K-Thermocouple setting I do get a temperature, but I'm not sure how accurate it is...

Espresso: Gaggia Classic PID Grinder: Preciso

You get EEEE when no sensor is detected. If you turn on the PID and did not hook up a sensor/thermocouple, then EEEE and I think same if mismatched. I am thinking that you have the thermocouple that works, the K. Perhaps you have not figured the correct way to set and read the PID sensor setting??
Look at the Auber site and match your thermocouple to a picture there, or call Suyi.
PID values are not critical for espresso. If you lower the P a little you will start to see more overshoot and oscillation, especially noticable in initial warm up. OTOH, the temperature rise can be a little faster. I have seen values of about 2 - 4. I have tried I from about 60 to 100 and D at about 25% of I. As I lowered P, I raised I and to the upper range stated. You can also run autotune and let it set up. YMMV on Silvia vs Gaggia, but I have seen values all over in those ranges on both machines.

Yes actually I re-read the Auber PID manual and saw that I hadn't connected the RTD the right way. I needed to use a jumper cable on the PID since the RTD I'm using is a 2-wire only.
It now works like a charm! I pulled my first shot and it was perfect! It really really is much more convenient to not have to temp-surf all the time, no more wasted water!
I also steamed some milk and its definitely easier to keep getting good steam.
All in all I'm very happy so far, but I'll need to pull a few more shots.

Overall view with the AC SSR installed in the back of the machine.
In the final step I actually covered the SSR with some duck tape, because as I had previously mentionned, I had a little leak where the water pipe connects to the pump (the brass elbow). I tightened it down, but just in case and since the SSR is in close proximity, I figured some duck tape wouldn't hurt as a partial cover.

View in the back, everything a bit more cleaned up. I used probably 10-15 tie-wraps to make sure all the cables were tight together and not touching the copper surfaces of the boiler.

Another view from the top with everything tied down. You can see the RTD which is screwed where the old steam thermostat was installed. I left the boiler thermostat there although it is not connected to anything anymore
