Got the pliers, bent the tube, waiting on the elbow, cap, and vacuum breaker valve to arrive. I ordered both the cap and vacuum breaker so I could be sure that I had everything else working properly before attempting to make room for the breaker. It's very tight in that case, and the breaker is going to end up fairly near the pump (only spot it'll fit on this tube). If there ends up being insufficient room to stick it there, I'll still have the old sight glass tube capped off and able to use the machine until I can do the vacuum breaker mod outlined in the HB thread.
Got all the other plumbing connections redone, except getting the silicone tubing connected between the new three-way valve and the outlet to the drip tray. It's a job that may require smaller hands than mine to manipulate. I'm assuming that dipping the end of the tubing in hot water for a little bit will soften it up to stretch over the outlet of the three-way a little more easily.
Along the way, the labels I stuck on the wires to indicate which one goes where mostly fell off. Luckily, I have a copy of the manual and the manual has both the hydraulic and electrical schematics for the machine. I also have a multi-meter, so I'll be able to wring out each wire from the Gicar box and know where it's supposed to go.
No job is ever simple - this project has been a shining example of that principle, as well as a fine case of Murphy rearing his ugly head. I just hope that when I get the sight glass tube capped off, all the wires connected and everything hooked back up that it works.
