Well I got it home and was anxious to see what worked, Plumbed it in turned it on got some lights and noise, no pressure, or anything else. So as not to risk damaging anything, I went to my first suspect, the pump. Took it off and could not turn the shaft, locked up. So I gave it an acid dip and broke it loose, the bearing is about gone but will it make pressure? Reinstalled it and she makes 8.5 bar, and a lot of noise, with no portafilter. That happied me. Next does it heat. It does. It makes gobs of steam and hot water for like a kajillion teas. ;-) Anyhow it looked kind of rusty on the frame had a minor leak out the nut for the steam tube, Hence all the corrosion. So after cooling it down, I commenced to tearing the thing down. So here he is ready for Powder Coat.

Yikes. I'll say he/she's ready! It's a worthy thing you're doing, as from all I've read online this is a very nice machine. Good luck with the restoration.

I am going to have to relearn how to make espresso again. LOL Anyway heres some pics of the bits and bobs of the guts of the machine. http://flic.kr/ps/2hVAVz Looks like about 2 weeks at powder coat due to they are very busy.

Alright!! Back from Powder Coat finally!! I was so anxious to get it back together, mainly because I was forgetting how to, I did not take any pictures of the reassembly! (slapping head) With a lot of heartache from my Guidance Unit (wife), a weekend and a few leaks its working again. Now to run water to where I want to put it.

Wow, great project, I'm sorry I missed this the first time around. Congrats on the rebuild, pics are always welcome, esp of the entire process if you took them. I am a bit late but it looks like that frame was Cad plated when new, that is a very durable process. Powder coat is pretty good also, perhaps not quite as tough but a great process as the finish is baked on. The prep work makes all the difference, a good glass bead blasting before coating will insure a good finish.
Congrats again on the reassembly, pics of inside and outside then where you are installing would add a lot! I am looking forward to seeing them!

Ok here are a few pictures of final assembly. wish I took more, but I kinda got involved in reassembly and totally forgot about taking pictures. I think they (Lithia Powder Coating) did an awesome job. I had a few instances of..Where the heck does this go. But all in all it went pretty smoothe. Now on to running water over to where Silvia lives. That may proove to be the hardest part.
