My Silvia is not working and it's probably the boiler (I think I let it run dry). Is there a way I can fix it myself or is there somewhere I can send it for repair (I live in West Yorkshire)? I'm using my ancient Gaggia Classic now and its not the same. Any suggestions welcome.
Not working properly? Does not heat, pops GFI? Just off the top, I wonder about over heat protection and burned element, but you have not offered specifics yet. What will it do, and not do, then better help will be available.
If you are handy at all and have basic tools, repairing the boiler is not hard, provided that is what you need to do. We have not established that a replacement is need though. Have you tried the over temp safety switch on the side of the boiler? Is there "white stuff" in the water when you run water through the boiler? Does the machine trip a ground fault outlet (assuming you have one)?

Success. I went to Jim's page and opted for 'simple things to check first'. I was pretty sure it was lack of water in the boiler that caused the problems so I reset the safety thermostat and the heater started working again. I'm off to find some special beans to celebrate.
