Hahaha...... Some very witty responses !
I am not especially proud of 'maggot-gate' but i am not keen on dumping an otherwise great machine.
I stripped the machine down as much as possible...... Thoroughly cleaned the water tank, grounds drawer and drip tray. I cleaned out the coffee dispenser with warm water. Then used vacuum cleaner around the internals ( as much as was visible ). I was able to take the back off and get the nozzle of the cleaner in.
Put everything back together and ran a couple of rinse cycles.
I am happy enough everything is ok..... I think the flies laid their eggs in the grounds drawer and the maggots prospered in the environment. So it is a lesson learned for me !
