CoffeeRoastersClub Said:

You have fly eggs in the machine.  Get a bottle of cheap vodka and soak the machine in it.  Let it sit for about a day, then throw the machine out and drink the vodka.  Should be coffee flavored.  Anything floating in it would surely be dead by then.

I don't think I would have told the world if I found flies/maggots in my coffee machine... just saying.

Hahaha...... Some very witty responses !

I am not especially proud of 'maggot-gate' but i am not keen on dumping an otherwise great machine.

I stripped the machine down as much as possible...... Thoroughly cleaned the water tank, grounds drawer and drip tray. I cleaned out the coffee dispenser with warm water. Then used vacuum cleaner around the internals ( as much as was visible ). I was able to take the back off and get the nozzle of the cleaner in.

Put everything back together and ran a couple of rinse cycles.

I am happy enough everything is ok..... I think the flies laid their eggs in the grounds drawer and the maggots prospered in the environment. So it is a lesson learned for me !
