I know this is usually dedicated to machine mods, BUT I had to share... :D

It seems the number 1 complaint on the Toroid is that it makes thin lines on latte art. However, it makes great microfoam! After playing around with it for about a month now, I have come to the same conclusion. I bought a Motta pitcher with the notion that the "thin lines" on the Toroid were caused by the tight spout, and it turns out that I was correct (for me anyways). After not really being able to create decent microfoam on the Motta, I decided to heat up the Motta pitcher with some backflush water, steam in my Toroid, and then pour the milk into the Motta. Voila! Beautiful latte art was achieved with ease.

So now I thought... how do I combine the 2?

Well... I gambled... I took a blow torch to the Toroid spout (until it was glowing) and a 3/8" brass pipe and widened the spout to match the spout on the Motta the best I could. Amazingly... I have what (to me) seems to be the perfect pitcher for steaming AND latte art. It certainly isn't the prettiest thing anymore, but alas I don't care!! LOL!
