Yet another mod to my machine is a new drip tray. Now that I no longer have a water reservoir and I've covered the top of the machine with a solid sheet of stainless, I decided to fab more while at work today. I always had problems with water splashing on the flat surfaces of the old tray and found it to be too small in general. So I extended it in the front as well as the back. I also used aluminum egg crate material so the water will strike and splash inside the drip tray. The whole tray is stainless steel that matches the finish of the machine and I added a copper 3/8" drain directly into the sink as I did to the original tray. Here's a pic...

Nice job - that looks like a very clean job... can you post a closer pic without the grate? For some reason every vintage machine I come across is missing it's drip tray and i have yet to figure out a viable option for fabrication. I clearly do not have the skills and tools that you do!

If you are looking for a replacement drip tray you can buy a piece of galvanized steel (or ask for stainless) from a sheet metal fabrication place (such as a heat and air place). You could easily have them bend you one quick. For a cover you can have them hem the edges over so they aren't sharp, and you can drill some holes in it. I thought my drip pan was white, until I ripped off the white plastic covering it. So, I was wanting a metal drip tray cover and thought about this for a while.
Here is a picture of the inside bottom of the drip tray. I could have tig welded it, but it would've discolored and distorted it. So instead I used a caulk and inserted the bottom plate in such a way that I could seal both the top and bottom edges. If you are able to bend sheet metal this might be a possibility. Also, you can get a similar material to the aluminum egg crate I used at Home Depot. It's plastic and is used to cover 2'x4' light fixtures in grid ceilings. Hope this helps.
