I was wondering how difficult it is to swap out the usual knobs for the joystick like ones that are on the Elektra A3. I know some manufactures offer kits but was not sure how specific they are to a given machine. Right now I am in the process of getting a new machine and want to see if this is a possibility.

Thanks,

It is possible, I did the swap. As for 'how difficult' that depends on your definition.

I swapped out Duetto rotary knob valves for Quickmill joystick valves. Not a direct drop-in fit as the Quikmill has the flare on the valve and the Duetto has the flare on the piping. But a relatively simple adapter between the two made it entirely possible.

Which machine are you getting? Knowing the types of fittings (thread size, pitch, mating pieces, etc.) will help answer your question.

BTW, I'm not pulling off the joysticks any time soon. They meet my needs nicely.

George

Thanks for the reply. I am looking at the Vibiemme DD v3. As for specs on the fittings I do not have those yet.

You're welcome!

I don't recall Vibiemme having joystick valves in their lineup. Bezerra, Elecktra, Quickmill and Izzo come to mind. If you end up with the DDv3 you may be more in the realm of 'modification' than 'upgrade'.

Just curious ... why the interest in the joystick style valves?

Sorry for the delay in responding to this. As far as being more in the realm of mod I understand. This is the main reason I put out the question in mod forum.

As for why, I really like the idea from a usability perspective of going to fully on vs having to turn multiple times. The twist knobs are something I have never been a huge fan of on my other machines and I was interested in thoughts on how difficult this as a mod would be.

Thanks again,

of course they do  :)
do a search on their entry-level commercial 'lollo'

anyway, i've heard some stories on eventual wear on the 'ball-joint', resulting in the inability to hold its locking position.
about half a year for commercial use, which translate to maybe 3-4 years of our home use

Shochu thank you for the information on that Vibiemme. I wonder if the valves on the lollo would work on the DD. Anyone have information on if this is possible?

I recently installed the chris coffee joystick steam deal on my 1st gen quick mill anita. looks better, performs better, easier to use. Came with a two hole tip, and I've been using a two hole tip and also own a 4 hole tip that I just couldn't control. This new joystick micro foams a small pitcher in less than 20 seconds. it's pretty intense compared to my old stock wand. I actually lowered the boiler pressure drastically because it is so fast now that I don't need to keep the boiler pressure that high. woot!!! pics?
