Has anyone updated an earlier Rancilio Silvia to use the new steam wand? Is it just a "bolt on" upgrade? How does it compare to other Silvia steam wand upgrades?

I ordered the new articulating steam wand plus the new steam knob, and just installed it according to the video link mentioned above....overall it was quite simple to do, took maybe 45 minutes overall. And BOY oh BOY does the new wand work GREAT....really a world of difference from the old one, much stronger and very strong and dry steam (my old wand had some kind of problem, I think...it leaked water when not in use). Anyhow, this new wand is considerably larger....both in diameter and in length, and the articulation aspect of it is wonderful. Highly recommended upgrade!

There's a HUGE improvement with this new wand, and it's worth every penny of the price....if you do milk based drinks, of course. The new wand has a larger diameter, it's longer, it can be adjusted and a variety of positions rather than just moving back and forth like the old one, which was too small to get down very far in my 20 oz pitcher. The steam is better, seems stronger, also dryer. I'm getting perfect microfoam now....of a quality I rarely achieved before with the old wand. I'm actually quite amazed at the improvement.

Great helpfull video,
just to get the terminology straight,
you need to replace the complete steam VALVE to replace the wand the new wand doesn't fit on the old valve body couple of extra things from the video remove the back cover and plate tere are only 5 screw total 3 to only loosen and 2 ( the divider to remove) it will make it easier to work loose also the other end of the copper pipe it will re-line better ALWAYS remove the wand first and always hold the valve body with another wrench when you are removing the wand and the nut in the back of the valve so you don't bend the metal support

Hi, can you tell me where you got your version 3 steam wand and knob for Ranciio Silvia? I've tried ordering it from American websites but they refuse to ship outside the USA. Even if I offer to pay extra! I'd really love to upgrade, but just can't find anyone online who'll deliver to the UK.
