coffeespark. Thanks for posting. It's great to hear you are getting started on this. This project lacks some key documentation, and efforts are being made to ammend that: such as a schematic and pictures. I plan to post a schematic hopefully within a few weeks. One important note. I just put a correction on the main arduino wiki page, updating the water level sensor to a QT113. Also, it sounds like Rick is making great progress on his machine and has some pictures which will make their way up in some weeks.
The electronics are luckily not too complex. Also, All the inter-connections can be in the #define.h file in case you haven't seen that yet: Click Here (www.growdown.com)
It's no schematic, but its something while better options are in the works.
My advice to anyone starting on this is to do it in stages. Pick your favorite feature and cut away all the rest first, then add in the other features one by one. I especially recommend leaving the display and wiichuck for later. So much can be done via a usb-serial link to the arduino. Maybe attach a serial display for simple output. But the whole UI thing with the menu system and driving it from the wiichuck adds a lot of complexity for a feature I rarely ever use. If I did it again, I might cut all that out completely, just use a laptop or any old serial terminal when I wanted to make adjustments.
In reference to your post from the related thread Click Here (www.coffeegeek.com) "i think a double or triple or quad shot i mean board would be nice Arduino ProtoShield Kit or the Shield thats what my goal is pics are nice also i have an xeltec for programming"
how do you mean a triple or quad shot? Also, a shield would be fantastic for this project. please keep me posted however I can be helpful.

tim i read thru the files you and others compiled the full pop and the cut ones and was a little tired and missed the #define.h file i am sorry for slipping must have been a bad 4 bucks (starbxxks) drink
' i think a double or triple or quad shot i mean board would be nice ========== Arduino ProtoShield Kit or the Shield '
tim i was trying to be funny about the shots i was meaning the circuit boards or Arduino shield stacking --------------- --------------- --------------- --------------- to tighten the footprint of some of the electronics and possibly shielding them from all from the heat that maybe will extend their life some what i will take your advice and go in stages it is cheaper for shipping to load em up on an order and adding piece by piece when in stock at my house i concur about all the info in the prev post and i will do as you advised thank so much for your rocket fast responce sorry for cross posting kinda i will go slow but sure from here on out some times i get too pumped up on this project many thanks

As Tim mentioned... I'm pretty far along on my project which is based almost entirely from Tim's trail blazing project.
Before I go farther, let me thank Tim once again for the tremendous mentoring and advice along the way!
Although my project is similar in many ways, I have several hardware differences. I have, for example, used a shield for Arduino, which has allowed me to have a pretty clean installation. All of my internal connections are "plug and play", I have not cut any of the original wires in Silvia, so in a sense, my mod is completely reversible too. I am using the QT114 (older capacitance sensor) for water level sensing, and to do so soldered up my own pc board for that "module". I also did a little research and decided to go with optoisolators from Opto 22, to use to allow Arduino to "sense" the status of Silvia's face panel switches.
Personally, other than the optoisolators, and the board for the QT114, and the solid state relay, all of my electronics are going to be external to Silvia like: http://www.digidive.com/coffee/index.html (A Tail about Silvia), even the Wiichuck will be able to be plugged in and out of the external project box, and only used when changes in the PID or other parameters need to be made.
I have a rather complete parts list, and some photo documentation.
Any way, I wish you a lot of luck with it... It is a really interesting modification on a number of levels.

rsinger i am at early learning stages of this project i am checking and planning my options and test benching stuff and still waiting for a few extra sensor parts can you post a link for

Well.... it took me a little time (sorry for the delay) but I have posted on my own (new) blog a completge parts list for the project.
As I state in the blog, I really didn't want to start blogging until my Silvia and Arduino are up and running 100%. Yet at the same time, if you or others are interested, then this well save you some effort and time and for that reason I happy to do so.
Please feel free to let me know if there are any questions. I will make an addition to the Coffeetronics wiki in the next few days (I hope). I'll thank Tim once again for making this possible (and even for helping me learn how to blog, and post on the wiki!)
Have fun, enjoy Silvia, Arduino, and lots of luck!
