Subject: Powering of a PID cooling fan

I've bought a Amica PID kit and am installing it into my Zaffiro.  I have plans on installing the PID controller in the same position as the now famous Bionic Zaffirro (ala Michael Teahan, http://home.earthlink.net/~mrfuss/).

Question is where do I power the 12 volt computer fan from?  I'd like it to be running whenever the machine is on as the PID controller will be sitting right above the boiler.

Many thanks.

Scott

The close-up picture of the fan shows that it takes 120V.  I suppose if you're set on using a 12V fan you might be able to come up with a "wall wart" power supply to run it (if you're a pack rat like me you have at least 10 old ones around saved from things you don't have or use any more).

Why not just use a 120VAC fan?  Then you don't need the 12VDC power supply.

Well it's looking like I will run a 120VAC fan.  In the article it did mention using a computer fan and I just assumed it was a 12 volt per most(all) computer fans I've seen.

Thanks for the feedback

Just read it, you're right he says a computer fan.
Since there's 120VAC all over the machine though, that would be easier.  Plus the accompanying photo shows an AC fan as kh99 mentioned.

Cheers,

FWIW, I have a Dalla Corte Mini on order and plan to sell the Bionic Zaffiro after I'm comfortable with the Mini. I'll post here in the "For Sale' section and probably on Craigslist with preference to local (L.A.) buyers to avoid packing hassles and shipping risks. Should happen in the next month or two.
