I was having problems with my coffee on my gaggia classic coming out way too fast, found a discussion which explains how to adjust the valve....took care of that and got the coffee to come out perfect BUT!! ( of course there is more..) now I can't get any steam, it seems I can either get a nice slow shot and no steam, or a lot of steam and coffee that shoots out the side at full force...is it the valve thats bad or am I missing something else? Thanks in advance for any help!
P.s After few attempts I did take the valve apart and cleaned it out real good.

Okay then, how old is the Classic and what sort of maintenance have you been doing on.
And, what valve did  you adjust and how?

And what diagnostic tests have you run on it?

I'd suggest you pop over to the Gaggia Users Group (see my signature) for lots of advice specifically tailored to Gaggias.

I'm having a similar problem with the coffee coming out too fast on my Evolution, my lousy beans/grinder/tamping technique aren't helping but I sure would like to know what valve you tweaked!
