Considering a PV export. I'd like a full 2-oz shot using only 1 dose of a double basket. I read that "sweet-spot" is smaller (for American stds), being like 14 grams or so. Would appreciate knowing if the double basket can hold a large enough dose to produce a full 2-oz shot without including much after it's gone blonde.

You can get up to about 16g in the double basket. Grind fine and tamp just enough to level it. If you mash the tamp you could choke the lever. Ask me how I know. :)
To get 2 ounces, you'll need 3 or maybe 4 pulls, holding the lever down for 4 to 6 seconds each time before releasing it.

Yes, considering buying a new Export while on the look-out for a used for one.
Coincidentally, was thinking about a CE12 for sale nearby me for $150, in a bit better shape than yours as shown in your post when you first got it from the thrift store. What do you think of yours after having it a while? Did you have to change the spring? Did you get an original PF?

If you are talking about the $10 thrift store find Enrico of Italy lever machine, I have done nothing but clean it on the outside and inside. It came with a PF but no basket. I got the monstrous 69mm basket at an espresso repair place in town, that just happened to have one.
It is an odd beast. The grouphead seals leak and I haven't pulled but a couple of shots. Who has a 69mm tamper? :)
The many suction cups on the bottom are handy, though.
