Subject: Need help restoring 20 year old La Riviera eagle espresso machine

Hello,

I just picked up a nice La Riviera machine off Craigslist for $220. Everything works fine and it is complete, minus the drip tray cover. The guy I bought it from said he had it for 20+ years, using sparingly. Can anyone tell me if there's a place that sells reproduction covers for these? I looked at Orphan Espresso -- they have rectangular tray cover for the later model, not trapezoid... I can try and anufacture one , I guess -- cut to shape off an old brass or copper tray and drill holes...

Also, I was wondering what metal is this machine made of? At first I thought it's brass, but on closer inspection it looks like the metal is white and fairly soft, like some kind of pot metal, covered with yellow laquer. There are places wher e laquer wore of, and it's obviouse, as well as underneath.

In general, is it a good buy and a good machine to own? I have a big Laranzato 2 group that I use every day. Always wanted a cute brass or copper lever machine, too. It's built solid, but no brass, I think.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.
