What are your thoughts on this $12 tamper click here?

I plan to use it for a new La Pavoni Europiccola.

(The picture of the tamper appears to be a computer generated rendering.)

You usually get what you pay for.  I'd be suspicious of a computer rendering.  Don't they have real examples to show?

Still,  if the tamper is real, anything with more weight and turned to fit would be better than the plastic tampers you get with the machine.

If you try it out, let us know how it goes.

Looks like it's shaped kind of funky.  I just got a 51mm Deluxe Lava Tamp from Espressoparts.  Comfortable, well made, feels great in the hand.

I bought 2
1 49mm for my europiccola
1 57mm for my LaMarzocco ridged double baskets (for NS Oscar)

Good value - I got the 2 when the seller was still selling them for $5 + shipping.  Total for 2 was $18.5 (5x2 + 5+3.50).  I notice he now sells em for $7.50 ea.  I don't think you can beat getting a custom sized metal tamper at $12 with shipping anywhere.  The only issue possible is that it is somewhat short.
I also asked for a flat face for the 49mm and a convex face for the 57mm.  I already had a starbucks 49mm tamper but it had a curved face, I wanted to try a flat face and I'm finding it works much better.

Unfortunately he sent the 57mm with flat face.  It was mutually resolved and bottom line is I'm happy as a buyer.  I don't expect to use the 57mm that much but since I've got ridged LM baskets I thought I'd give a $5 tamper a shot.

The best part is you can order whatever size you want - I probably could have asked for 49.5mm if I wanted.  If you're gonna order multiple tampers with different faces, make sure that the order is confirmed.

Again for $12, with custom size, I think this is an excellent value.

An update...

His prices have gone up a bit since this thread began but are still very reasonable. He now offers two lengths - long (3.4" overall) and short (2.25" overall) - as well as choice of flat or convex base, all aluminum or aluminum handle/stainless steel base - and base diameters from 49mm to 58mm.

I'm very happy w/the long handle, flat/ss base, 51mm I ordered for my Gaggia Factory...  Nice appearance, finish, balance & heft for a very reasonable price.   (I've no connection with this seller - just a customer who took a chance on buying from him and was very pleased with the product & value.)

An update...

I am pleased with the short (2.25" length) tamper, which I purchased from the seller.  The diameter of the tamper accurately matched my specification.

The short tamper is relatively easily insertable/removable from the throat of my hopperless grinder.  However, I wish I had purchased the long (3.4" length) tamper, and still may do so. . . .
