Hello, Everyone --
I'm new as a poster to the coffeegeek forums, though I have been learning a lot from all of you over the past few months.
I recently came to terms with the realization that I haven't the time to develop my skill to a point where I can produce espresso that's as good as what I can get from some of the amazing baristas around here. So, I've returned my Breville Dual Boiler (great machine, though).
The downside is that I'm really going to miss being able to steam my own milk at home. I love to drink the stuff on its own or use it with spices and tea-based drinks.
So -- does anyone have suggestions about good, inexpensive ways to produce microfoam at home?

A dedicated steamer like the Bellman might work, otherwise some folks have had good results with those Aerolatte whisks or the Bodum frothers. I can't attest to the microfoaminess of either, but I've seen Aerolatte free-pour art - that says there's possibility there.

I followed this video too! It takes some time to get it all right, but it works. I have just written about part of my own experience inspired by this video.

I've successfully made art worthy microfoam by microwaving or stove heating milk and frothing with the wand but that additional hydration from the steam tip and heating as you froth make it taste better to me. I spent three months on a college campus with a microwave and a wand and I could not have been happier to return home to my precious steam wand.
