Hi Espressodude,
Does that mean you pull latte art professionally near Houston? Can we come visit?

Hi Cellocoffee,

I have never worked behind a bar for money.  I have worked for fun at friends places, so the answer is no.  I do, however, have kitchen set up and if you call me with some notice, you are welcome to stop by.  Just send me an email sometime.

We can sip some espresso and listen to Yo Yo Ma (if you don't mind my two boys running around like a 5 & 2 year olds).

Cheers,

Mike

PS - I like the picture, very cute!

Hi, Rob,
I went to Sur La Table but did not find those cups. They do carry Buffalo China. Maybe it's disconnected? Maybe we have to get it from Vivace when we visit Seattle?

I am depressed.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your compliment. We thought she is the cutest in the world.
Yeah, it'd be so cool to come meet up with you. My husband is from Houston and it'd be really great to have one more reason for going down there. That'd be such a fantastic treat!!
I am sure we'll learn lots about coffee from you. Our girl loves hanging out with toddlers.
So if you REALLY don't mind, we love to talk about espresso and music(not just cello). I am a professional cellist and my 'taller half' is a jazz bass player.

I will bug you with an email when we are ready!

ciao,
cellocoffee

I wouldn't offer if I didn't mean it.  BTW, I spoke to Matthew (the tired entrepreneur) and he said he remembers you guys and that you were very "nice and excited about coffee."

Cheers,

Mike

PS - I do have a pretty great collection of Gangsta Rap !-)

Here was a surprise success for me.  Normally I am bad, especially when I used straight sided mugs.  This one came out OK.  Imagine what I can do when I get my HX machine in April.....

Well, on top of that, use this next month as an opportunity to practice!  Personally, I'm finding that the Barista is forcing me to learn more and more about the entire process (grinding, shot pulling, milk texturing, timing (wait times between shot pull and frothing), pouring) in order to create nice latte art.  Despite a lot of wasted milk and coffee, I think that's a good thing!  Plus, it sure feels good to be able to pour a nice rosetta on an entry-level machine. :^)
