Subject: Latte are with stove top espress/frother?

Has anyone attempted this? I have a Bialetti moka express and Tuttocrema Milk Frother. I mostly just drink espresso and to me the espresso produced is pretty good. A new coffee shop opened in the town I work in and they do latte art. It's the first I have ever seen or heard of it. I think its amazing and after watching them do it numerous times now I decided to try it with my stove top setup.

So far I have had mixed results with a couple attempts that was nearly there. The frother doesn't have a spout which makes it difficult to pour a nice steady narrow stream. The other problem I was having was the milk itself. Sometimes the milk has nice thick foam that is needed other times not. It's hit an miss at this point. I learned through trial and error and from reading articles here and there that I was heating the milk a little too much. So now after heating the milk properly and frothing it, I then pour it into a measuring cup with a spout and the results have improved slightly but still hit and miss.

I think at some point I may just get an actual machine with a wand. In the meantime I think I will get an actual frothing cup to pour the steamed milk into instead of the glass measuring cup I am now using. I am just curious if anyone has been successful in making art in this manner and if so any advice would be appreciated.

Nick
